Celebrating Sportsmanship: The Standing Rock Fair Play Award Makes Its International Debut at the Open de France Barnes

This marks a significant moment as the award crosses borders to recognize outstanding sportsmanship on a global stage.

The Standing Rock Fair Play Award is rooted in the core values of sportsmanship, respect, and dedication to equine welfare. It is awarded to the team that not only demonstrates exceptional athletic ability but also upholds the highest standards of conduct both on and off the field. This focus on integrity and respect reflects the true spirit of polo and emphasizes the importance of character in the sport.

The Open de France Barnes is celebrated as France’s most significant international polo event. Now in its 24th year, this tournament brings together 16 teams from seven nations, showcasing some of the world’s top polo players. The event is hosted by the Chantilly Polo Club, in collaboration with the Fédération Française de Polo. With over 1,300 horses and nearly 250 grooms in attendance, the tournament is a grand spectacle of equestrian excellence.

This year, the introduction of the Standing Rock Fair Play Award adds an extra layer of prestige to the event. Throughout the tournament, teams will be evaluated on sportsmanship, respect for umpires, friendliness, and the care they provide for their horses. The award serves as a powerful reminder that success in polo is not just about winning on the field, but also about how the game is played.

The winner of this year’s Standing Rock Fair Play Award will be announced during the closing ceremony of the Open de France Barnes, where they will be honored with this exclusive trophy. The award is intended for perpetual circulation, symbolizing the enduring values of fairness and camaraderie that it represents.
