Honoring Sacheen Littlefeather's Legacy: Standing Rock Polo Team's Commitment to Supporting Native Americans

Also commemorating the 100th anniversary of Marlon earlier this year, in 1973, Hollywood experienced a groundbreaking moment during the Oscar Awards. Marlon Brando, renowned for his iconic performance in "The Godfather," made a bold statement by declining his Best Actor Oscar.

Honoring Sacheen Littlefeather's Legacy: Standing Rock Polo Team's Commitment to Supporting Native Americans

Instead of accepting the prestigious award, Brando sent Native American activist Sacheen Littlefeather to the stage to draw attention to Hollywood's negative portrayal and mistreatment of Native Americans.

Sacheen Littlefeather, standing with dignity and poise, delivered a poignant speech that resonated across the globe. She explained that Brando's refusal was a protest against the film industry's systemic discrimination and harmful stereotyping of Native Americans. This act of solidarity brought much-needed attention to the injustices faced by Native American communities and sparked conversations about representation and equity in the entertainment industry.

Today, we, the Standing Rock Polo Team, are as well inspired by Sacheen Littlefeather's courage and Marlon Brando's commitment to social justice. In their spirit, we aim to give back to the

Native American community and support their ongoing struggle for equality and respect.
