Standing Rock Polo Team Welcomed Native American Guests for a spectacular photo shoot at Flemish Farm, Windsor

Standing Rock patron and founder, Phillip Müller, has been captivated by the Wild West and the story, bravery and fate of the Native Americans from a young age. The polo team is named after the Standing Rock Reservation, home of the Sioux Tribe, which straddles the border between north and south Dakota, and is where legendary leader Sitting Bull - a symbol of dignity and resistance - was tragically shot.

Guided by the timeless wisdom of the Native Americans, Standing Rock Polo Team’s mission is rooted in a deep respect for the values upheld by Native American communities. Central to Standing Rock’s ethos are the "Seven Lakota Values" - enduring principles that guide Standing Rock’s actions both on and off the field, including generosity, respect, kinship, compassion, fortitude, wisdom and spirituality.

In October 2024, Philipp visited Native American Reservations in South Dakota to see how indigenous communities live today and to learn more about their history and values, and he was deeply touched and impressed when he saw their way of life and the belief systems they are guided by.

On 27th June 2025, Standing Rock united the polo world with Native American culture by welcoming a group of eight Native American performers to take part in a photo shoot with the Standing Rock Polo Team at Flemish Farm, against the magical backdrop of Windsor Castle. This magnificent photo shoot saw players in the Standing Rock Polo Team stand and ride alongside the Native American guests, who were dressed in vibrant, traditional regalia, as a celebration and showcase of Native American heritage.

The Native performers also performed a mesmerising dance with indigenous music, singing, and storytelling, in preparation for their special performance and attendance at the launch of Standing Rock’s philanthropic initiative, the Standing Rock Foundation, hosted at Guards Polo Club the following evening.
