The Standing Rock Challenge Match in Dublin

On 24 July 2025, the Standing Rock Challenge Match was held at Phoenix Park, Dublin, the location of oldest polo clubhouse in Europe, established in 1873. The match, which saw the Standing Rock team play against The All Ireland Polo Club, was a great success, celebrating good sport and friendship.

The Standing Rock team beat The All Ireland Polo Club 7 - 4.5 in front of a huge crowd at Phoenix Park, and the game was followed by a wonderful dinner at the eminent Shelbourne Hotel - a legendary haunt in Dublin.

During the dinner, Standing Rock Founder and Patron Philipp Mueller presented the Swiss Chukker Bell to Dan Laverty, who received the special gift on behalf of his father Eamonn Laverty, Chairman of The All Ireland Polo Club.

Philipp commented: “Playing at such a historic club as Phoenix Park in Dublin was a truly memorable experience. The welcoming hospitality of the Irish polo community, as well as the perfect ground and the famed clubhouse - built more than 150 years ago - made this friendly game an extremely fun and unforgettable event.”

Thank you to James Connelly, organizer of the Challenge Cup match at Phoenix Park, as well as to all the players of The All Irish Polo Club for inviting Standing Rock to play at their illustrious club.
