Pierandrea Müller and Peer Polo win the Gerald Balding Cup 2026 at Cirencester Park Polo Club in a close final against Philipp Müller and Standing Rock

The final of Cirencester Park Polo Club’s iconic Gerald Balding 8 Goal tournament reached a spectacular conclusion on Monday 25th May, as Pierandrea Müller with his team Peer Polo went head-to-head with his father Philipp Müller of Standing Rock Polo Team in a closely-fought game showcasing father and son rivalry and sportsmanship at its very best.

As Cirencester Park Polo Club's inaugural Victor Ludorum tournament of the year, the Quantum Switch Gerald Balding Cup saw 12 strong teams battle in the highly-competitive league stages, with Peer Polo - Ralph Robson, Archie Heseltine, Pierandrea Müller and Tom Brodie - and Standing Rock -  Philipp Müller, Matteo Fernandez, Segundo Darritchon and Nacho Gonzalez - emerging as the two finalists.

The thrilling final match saw both teams fighting hard until the very end of the last chukka, with Peer Polo edging ahead by just one goal, finishing with a 6-5 lead to take the coveted title and lift the prestigious trophy.

Philipp and Pierandrea won the Gerald Balding Cup together playing as Standing Rock in 2022, and it is a proud achievement for the Standing Rock organisation for both father and son to be back in the final in 2026 with two different teams.

As well as leading his team to victory, Pierandrea also received Most Valuable Player honours and his mare Santa Laura won Best Playing Pony.
