A Memorable Performance at the Hublot Gold Cup: Team Kielder Group's Hard-Fought Victory

Representing the Kielder Group at this year's prestigious Hublot Gold Cup was an honor for us, the Standing Rock Polo Team.

A Memorable Performance at the Hublot Gold Cup: Team Kielder Group's Hard-Fought Victory

Our lineup—Nacho Gonzales (Captain), Max Charlton, Jaime Roberts, and Philipp Müller— worked hard throughout the tournament, and while the final may not have been the most dazzling in terms of style, it was certainly one of the most intense and hard-fought.

The final against Gstaad Palace was a tense, hard-fought contest that ended with a narrow 6-5 victory.

Both teams were evenly matched, returning goal for goal, and every moment was laced with suspense. Max Charlton, whose composure under pressure was key, was able to seal the win with a decisive 60-yard penalty in the final seconds. Raul Laplacette, who played brilliantly for Gstaad Palace, showcased his skill, even scoring a equalizer with just two minutes to go. Despite being named the best player of the match, the day belonged to Max and our team, as we held on for that all-important victory. Reflecting on the win, Max acknowledged the fine margins between the two teams, attributing our success to a bit of luck.

As we reflect on our time at the tournament, we're grateful to have been part of such an incredible event. The organisation, the atmosphere, and the setting made this a memorable experience. It was a privilege to compete at this level, and we look forward to returning next year for what is sure to be another exceptional tournament.

With the dates already set for next year, August 21-24, 2025, we look forward to returning to this exceptional tournament and, hopefully, continuing our success on the field.
