A Successful UK Summer Season for Standing Rock

This summer in the UK Standing Rock Polo Team has achieved success at all levels, winning tournaments from 4-goal to 18-goal.

Standing Rock and Pierandrea Müller have been on a roll at 18-goal level,  winning the 18-goal Apsley Cup final at Cirencester Park Polo Club against a strong Emlor team 9-7. The team of Pierandrea, Jack Hyde, Paco O’Dwyer and Simon Prado demonstrated incredible teamwork and determination, and Pierandrea won the MVP award in the final. The 18-goal team also defeated Tamodi 12–7 in the final of the prestigious 18-Goal Challenge Cup at Cowdray Park Polo Club.

Meanwhile Philipp traveled to Cheshire and Standing Rock made its mark at Cheshire Polo Club by winning the National 4 Goal Victor Ludorum tournament with an impressive run of wins with a team line-up of Sidney Karger, Philipp Müller / Leo Stuart, Seb Dawnay and Daniel Otamendi. 

Presented since 1905, the National 4 Goal trophy remains one of the oldest trophies in UK polo and Standing Rock is very proud to have won it. Following two convincing victories in the lead up to the final, the team secured the coveted trophy in the final match against El Arroyito 9:3, in front of a large crowd. Rising talent Leo Stuart subbed for Philipp in the final game due to an injury.

At the competitive 8-goal level, the Standing Rock team of Ralph Robson, Matteo Fernandez, Segundo Darritchon and Nacho Gonzalez celebrated a win in the Julian & Howard Hipwood Trophy against Desert Knights at The Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club and received the trophy from the legendary Julian Hipwood himself. 

The 12-goal team of Philipp, Segundo Darritchon, Santiago Araya and Nacho Gonzalez came up against the formidable Ellerston team - Jackson Packer, Hazel Jackson, Tomas Garbarini and Matias MacDonough - in the final of the John Prestwich Challenge Cup and emerged as runners up in the tough contest that ended 10.5 - 7.
