Standing Rock World Tour in Asia

Following competitive tournaments in Kitzbühel, St. Moritz and New Zealand, Philipp continued the Standing Rock World Tour in Asia, visiting polo clubs and playing with local teams in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines.

First up was Singapore Polo Club, by invitation of Clarinda Tija-Dharmadi. The friendly game between Standing Rock and the Singapore Polo Club team was played on a sunny Sunday afternoon entertaining a large crowd. Polo professional Ravi Rathore - who played for team Standing Rock - was also a fantastic host and the game was brilliantly organised.

The next stop was a three-part adventure in Thailand, with visits to Thai Polo & Equestrian Club hosted by Harold Link; King Power’s grounds by kind invitation of Ploy Bhinsaeng; and Robin Lourvanij’s Polo Escape. A highlight of the trip was playing in the final of the Chinese New Year Cup at Thai Polo & Equestrian Club in a close match with team 22 BR.

More polo fun was had at Kuala Lumpur Polo Club in Malaysia, a fantastic club in the heart of the city with the KL skyline as the backdrop. Standing Rock played friendly games against a local team from the club, and enjoyed a lovely dinner with members.

From Malaysia, Philipp headed to Brunei for three days, playing twice with HRH Princess Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah and HRH Prince Bahar ibni Jefri Bolkiah, against another Brunei team led by HRH Prince Jefri Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III.

As a thank you to Princess Azemah and Prince Bahar for inviting Standing Rock to the beautiful Brunei Polo Club, including a tour of the magnificent Sultan's Clubhouse, Philipp presented Princess Azemah with the Standing Rock Chukker Bell.

To round off the Asia World Tour, Standing Rock received an extremely warm welcome at Manila Polo Club, Philippines, playing for the Standing Rock Challenge Cup.

With two close and fast-paced games providing thrilling action on the field, it was wonderful to meet the Swiss Ambassador in the Philippines, Nicolas Brühl, and his wife Denise, as well as VPs of the Board of Directors at Manila Polo Club, Raul Joseph Concepcion and Simon August Villalon. It was also brilliant to see Sandro Marcos, son of the current president of the Philippines, playing in the low goal game.

We thank every club for making each and every stop in Asia so special!
